Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Bala went on floors yesterday. Interestingly, this is Ayushmann and Yami’s second film after Vicky Donar. Well, the shoot has already been started in Mumbai and Yami will join the team later this week.

On joining Bala, the actress said, “Bala was a script that I instantly connected with. The team working on the film is immensely talented and especially after Uri for me, it’s another great project to be a part of. 2019 has been immensely rewarding with the super success of Uri and while it’s still playing in parts of the country, it’s great to be going on floors with another interesting story.”

It is to be noted that Yami’s last appearance was in Uri: The Surgical Strike where she played an intelligence officer, a never-seen-before avatar.

On Monday, Ayushmann took to social media to announce the start of the project where is plays a man who has issues with premature balding. He shared the first poster on Instagram with the caption, “Excitement is in the hair.. err air! The shooting for #Bala begins today! 🎬‪#DineshVijan @amarkaushik @bhumipednekar @yamigautam @saurabhshuklafilms #JavedJaffery #SeemaPahwa @MaddockFilms @officialjiocinema (sic).”

Take a look at Ayushmann’s Instagram post right here:

Talking about Bala, the film is about an unusual topic as it centres about a guy who is balding prematurely and the struggles he faces because of it. Ayushmann is playing the character, Bala. Yami plays Ayushmann’s lead love interest in the film. She is in the role of a supermodel. On the other hand, Bhumi Pednekar plays a dusky small town educated girl. The film also stars Saurabh Shukla, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles and will be shot in Mumbai and Kanpur.

Unfortunately, the film has already been surrounded by controversy as the actor and the director had been accused of plagiarism. The charges were levied by assistant director Kamal Kant Chandra, who has previously worked with Sudhir Mishra. Kamal had approached the Bombay High Court and filed a case against Bala team stating that they allegedly stole the story of his film Wig.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Bala is directed by Amar Kaushik who gave one of the biggest hits of last year Stree. 2018 was a great year for Ayushmann as his movies Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho did quite well at the box office.
