Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi were seen hugging it out and exchanging pleasantries at the felicitation event organised for PV Sindhu in Mumbai on Sunday. Later Abhishek also hugged Vivek’s father Suresh Oberoi. This comes months after Vivek Oberoi shared a distasteful and crass meme on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's personal life. Watch the video here:
Oberoi, who reportedly dated Aishwarya in the early 2000s, posted a meme featuring her with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, daughter Aaradhya and Salman Khan. The captions for each of the three images read, 'opinion poll’, 'exit poll' and 'result', respectively. Post this, the National Commission for Women had issued a notice to Vivek Oberoi seeking explanation on the same.
Several celebrities also bashed Vivek for his tweet. Anupam Kher, Sonam Kapoor, Urmila Matongkar called it ‘disgusting and classless.’
Vivek Oberoi later took to Twitter and issued a clarification over the meme storm. ''Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I cant even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever,'' Oberoi had said.
''Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies. tweet deleted,'' he had said in second tweet.
On the work front, Vivek was last seen in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's biopic. Abhishek was last seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan and will soon be seen in the second season of Amazon Prime Video’s Breathe with Amit Sadh.
