Popular chat show Koffee With Karan is one of the most controversial shows on Indian television. Hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, the show features interesting chats with popular celebrities along with super exciting rapid-fire round in the end. Recently, Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul graced the couch on the show but a controversy was waiting for them when they allegedly passed misogynist statements. Later BCCI issued a showcause notice to the two players. Now, an old video of Bollywood’s Simmba has surfaced over the internet where he could be seen allegedly making a ‘sexist’ remark attracting backlash over the social media.
The video clip is from an old season of Koffee With Karan (2011) where is sitting along Band Baaja Baaraat’s co-star Anushka Sharma. Even, Ranveer’s comment leaves Anushka in shock and says "don't talk to me like that’’.
In the video, Ranveer describes how he was knock down by Kareena Kapoor Khan's beauty when she would come to a club for swimming. "I went from child to boy". His comment has now attracted criticism over the social media handles.
Recently, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul triggered controversy after Pandya’s comment on women and other remarks were deemed ‘misgynistic’ and ‘racist’ by Twitter and social media users. Later, Pandya issued an apology about his comments on his official Twitter handle.
This all started when Karan was asking questions about not asking women’s name in a night club and what do men talk about. To this, Pandya replied, “I like to watch and observe how they (women) move. I'm little from the black side so I need to see how they move." Pandya also boasted about how he casually discussed his sex life with his parents. “When I lost my virginity, I came home and said, 'Main karke aya hai aaj (I had sex today)'. At a party my parents asked me 'acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai [who is your interest here?] so I said yeh, yeh, yeh (pointing out women)' and they were like 'waah proud of you beta',” Pandya replied with laughter.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s latest release and Rohit Shetty’s directorial venture Simmba crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the Indian box office. Now, his next release Gully Boy’s trailer was also released which garnered positive reviews from movie bugs and triggered excitement among them.
