Actor Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been declared tax free in Haryana, according to an official statement released on Thursday. "Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' film to be tax free in the state," the Haryana government statement said.
The Om Raut-directed movie has previously been exempted from tax in Uttar Pradesh.
Set in the 17th century, Tanhaji... is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, the military leader of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army. Also featuring Saif Ali Khan, Sharad Kelkar and Kajol, the film released on January 10.
The film has collected Rs 100 crore in just a week of its release. Saif plays the role of the antagonist Uday Bhan, while Kajol is seen as Savitribai Mausare, wife of the great warrior Tanaji Malusare.
Talking about the film, Ajay had earlier said, ''You have to be careful and honest to history. After from being careful, we followed the history. If someone asks us questions we can show that it is a part of history.'' "When you play the part of Tanhaji, who has been a such a big warrior hero, the responsibility is more. It is important you do not portray such characters wrongly," he added.
Ajay and Kajol shared the screen space after a gap of nine years.Their last film was Toonpur Ka Super Hero. Saif and Ajay were seen together in the Om Raut directorial after 12 years. They last collaborated in National Award-winning Omkara, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj.
