New Delhi:

After making Varun Dhawan's fans swoon over his intense and fearless look as Zafar, Karan Johar today presented the female protagonist, Roop portrayed by Bollywood's reigning Queen Alia Bhatt.

Sporting heavy ethnic jewellery and her face covered in a net veil, Alia looked every bit majestic and beautiful.

Madhuri Dixit described Alia's character as, "She’s full of life and has a heart of gold", Karan Johar described Roop as, "To love her is to love fire." Karan Johar tweeted, "To love her is to love fire."

Nevertheless, Alia's donning 'matha patti' and 'nath' reminds you of Deepika from Padmaavat. Comments like "For a moment I thought it's Deepika" started pouring in. Our verdict is she sports a look that is inspired both from Padmavaati of Padmavaat and Jodha Bai of Jodha Akbar.

After releasing the look of the #MenInKalank and now with Alia, the wait is for Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit.

Soon after the cast of Kalank dropped the first look poster on social media, the fans began to shower Alia with praise. While many were bowled over by Alia's beauty and couldn't help but be mesmerised, many of them were instantly reminded of Deepika Padukone's look from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat.

Karan Johar described Kalank as a film that was born in his "heart and mind 15 years ago." Karan further revealed that Kalank was his late father Yash Johar's dream project and wrote: "The last film my father worked on before he left us. It was his dream to see this film come through."

The film is set in the 40s era and is directed by Abhishek Varman. It is scheduled to release on April 19 this year.
