In a new musical collaboration, lyricist-singer-youth icon-music director Anupam Roy has teamed up for the first time with blockbuster arthouse trail-blazer Shiboprosad Mukherjee for their upcoming flilm ‘Belaseshe’ starring Soumitra Chatterjee.
“Anupam has broken the myth that he only excels in sad, lyrical songs and here he has penned and rent voice to a chirpy musical track which talks about celebrations and happiness. So in a way Anupam has come out of his known public image and shown he is versatile in all types of tracks,” Shiboprosad, the creator of Cannes-screened Aleek Sukh said.
And Anupam agrees: “Belaseshe marks another first in my career as music director. Here I set to tune the lyrics and composed them after hearing the storyline unlike the previous Chotuskone where I didn’t know the entire plot and Srijit had only narrated some sequences.”
“And From Autograph to Chotuskone I had used songs from my own music bank and tailored the lyrics and tunes with film’s situations.”
Affirming he had evolved a lot since ‘Autograph’, ‘Chalo Paltai’ days as a music director, Anupam says his musical journey was embedded with the parallel growth and change of content-rich Bengali cinema. In contrast he would see his tryst with Piku, starring Big B, as more ephmeral where there was not much scope to infuse Bengali sentiments, Anupam signed off.
Belaseshe, produced by Atanu Raychoudhuri, also stars Rituparna Sengupta, Swatilekha Sengupta, Indrani Dutta and others.
