Will have to rely on prosthetics: Ayushmann on on going bald for Bala

New Delhi:

Ayushmann Khurrana is synonymous with choosing films on offbeat subjects, those popular actors won't dare to attempt. After choosing brave subjects like sperm donation, infertility or erectile dysfunction, the actor through his character Bala will tell the story of a man facing prematurely balding

Dinesh Vijan’s comedy-drama, Bala has already gone on floors earlier and Ayushmann during a recent media interaction revealed much about his role and challenges he faced while shooting for the various stages of baldness.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, the 34-year-old actor revealed that two-three stages of baldness will be shown in the film. He said, "But it’s difficult to shave my head because one day I will be shooting stage one, the next day stage two and so on, without following the natural progression all through. So, we will have to rely on prosthetics."

Ayushmann revealed that the movie will strike  a chord with many as it is a very common problem in India. "Thankfully, I’m blessed with good hair but many of my friends who are in their early 30s, are complaining of a receding or thinning hairline. So, I’m aware that though we are dealing with the subject in a light-hearted manner, it is a serious issue," the actor added.

Talking about Bala, the film is about an unusual topic as it centres about a guy who is balding prematurely and the struggles he faces because of it. Ayushmann is playing the character, Bala. Yami plays Ayushmann’s lead love interest in the film. She is in the role of a supermodel. On the other hand, Bhumi Pednekar plays a dusky small town, educated girl. The film also stars Saurabh Shukla, Jaaved Jaaferi, and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles and will be shot in Mumbai and Kanpur.

Unfortunately, the film has already been surrounded by controversy as the actor and the director had been accused of plagiarism. The charges were levied by assistant director Kamal Kant Chandra, who has previously worked with Sudhir Mishra. Kamal had approached the Bombay High Court and filed a case against Bala team stating that they allegedly stole the story of his film Wig.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Bala is directed by Amar Kaushik who gave one of the biggest hits of last year Stree. 2018 was a great year for Ayushmann as his movies Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho did quite well at the box office.

Apart from this, Ayushmann has many intriguing films in the pipeline. The actor will be seen playing a cop for the first time in Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15 and then with Nushrat Bharucha in Dream Girl.

Ayushmann will also be starring in the next instalment of his hit movie, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Shoojit Sircar’s comedy-drama, Gulabo Sitabo has also roped in Ayushmann Khurrana for the first time.
