New Delhi:

Vicky Kaushal’s first release of the year is a horror thriller, his maiden film with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The poster and the teaser of the film titled Bhoor Part One: The Haunted Ship, also starring Bhumi Pednekar, dropped recently. Shortly after its release, netizens could not help but notice the similarity between the poster of Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship and a scene from critically-acclaimed Malayalam film Jallikattu.

The poster which has Vicky being strangled by several scary hands looks much similar to a scene in the 2029’s Indian Malayalam-language action film starring Chemban Vinod Jose. The plot follows a bull that escapes from a slaughterhouse in a hilly remote village and the entire village men gathering to hunt down the animal.

“Will Bollywood ever think something original? shamelessly copied poster of Jallikattu #bhoot,” one Twitter user wrote. Another tweeted, “#Bhoot poster... Wow...What an original thought #jalikattu @DharmaTwoPointO @DharmaMovies #copycat @vickykaushal09 @ganeshmatkari.”

Meanwhile, Karan Johar, sharing the teaser wrote: ”The fear will swallow you whole! Watch out, TRAILER DROPS ON MONDAY! #BhootTrailer3rdFeb”

As the teaser opens, we see Vicky walking inside an, spooky abandoned ship that has walls painted with blood-soaked hand prints. As Vicky follows the trail of hand-prints, he finds his face painted on a wall and blood oozing out of it. As he stares on his face in aghast, several hands emerge from the wall behind him and pull him into it, even as he struggles to escape their grip.

In a promo video that the production house earlier releases had iconic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai rhythm playing in the background. Sharing the short clip from the haunted ship, Dharma explains, ‘The plot twist you never saw coming. Let the fear take over because we are anchoring at the shore of horror with #Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship’.

The film has been directed by debutant director Bhanu Pratap Singh and has been jointly produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shashank Khaitan and Karan. The movie is a trilogy and the first part will releases hortly.

The film was due to release on November 15, 2019 but was shifted to February 21, 2020 to accommodate Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bala.

In addition to Bhoot, Vickywill be seen in Udham Singh biopic and Meghna Gulzar’s biopic on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He will also be seen in another Karan Johar’s directorial, ‘Takht’ that includes a handful of impressive casts such as Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor.
