Akshay Kumar is presenting his umpteenth film of 2020, a remake of Anushka Shetty starrer Bhaagamathie. The Hindi adaptation will be titled Durgavati and will have Bhumi Pednekar step into Anushka Shetty shoes for depicting the lead role of the film.
Ashok who has helmed the original film is onboard for Durgavati as well. The film will be produced by Adundantia Entertainment, Cape Of Good Hope Films and T-Series.
Now all those who have watched the original or have seen the trailer, are aware that Bhaagamathie is from the horror thriller space.
This will be Bhumi Pednekar second horror film after Vicky Kaushal starrer Bhoot that releases next year.
Bhumi took to her social media account and announced her project. “ I have waited so long to share this one with you. So excited to announce my next film #DURGAVATI. A scary-thriller going on floor mid-January. Thank you @akshaykumar sir for your constant belief in me. I am so excited for this one @bhushankumar @ivikramix . Cant wait to collaborate with you Ashok sir. This one comes with great responsibility. Need all your blessings”
It is not clear if Akshay will play a pivotal role in the film, but for the time being he is the presenter. Akshay and Bhumi earlier worked in Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. The film talked about importance of sanitation in the country. The film won many accolades.
Bhumi is currently awaiting the release of her new film Pati Patni Aur Woh. The film also Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday.
