After constant re-scheduling of premiere dates, director Ayan Mukerji had announced in February that Brahmastra featuring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor will hit the screens on December 4, 2020. However, it looks like the film has encountered another roadblock. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, shooting of the film has been postponed to April. Both Ayan and Ranbir have decided to make the safety and well-being of the team their priority. “They do not want to put them at any kind of risk. So for now, the shoot has been shifted to April,” a source informed Mumbai Mirror.
Brahmastra is the first part of the trilogy and also stars Akkineni Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. The film will see Ranbir play Shiva, a DJ who realises of his super powers at a later stage and then meets Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna’s character to seek answers. Shah Rukh Khan too will break his year long sabbatical with a special appearance in the film. Inside sources have revealed to Pinkvilla that Shah Rukh will essay the character of a scientist and he along with Dimple Kapadia will be aids to Ranbir’s search at different point of time, pushing the plot of the story.
Previously, the film that was scheduled to clash with Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 in 2019 Christmas was pushed to summer 2020, because, Mukerji in a satement explained that in order to deliver his vision, his VFX team would need more time, leading to a delay in the film's release. The Wake Up Sid director further said, ''I believe the extra time going into making the movie is essential to achieve the dream of Brahmastra, and I really hope that we make up for the delay by giving our movie-loving country something they can really love and feel proud of.''
Meanwhile, Salman Khan and Disha Patani have also reportedly cancelled the shoot of their upcoming film, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. The two were to travel to Baku in Azerbaijan for the film’s shoot, however it has now been cancelled following the dangerous spread of coronavirus, according to a report in Mid Day. A unit source mentioned, ''Considering the coronavirus outbreak, it’s scary to travel with a large number of unit hands abroad. It doesn’t make sense. Now, it will have to be shot elsewhere.''
Radhe will also star Randeep Hooda, Jackie Shroff and actor Govind Namdev.
