Bollywood celebs are giving their best shot spreading awareness about the global health emergency, COVID-19. Apart from asking their followers to be in self-quarantine, practice social –distancing on the networking handles Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma recently took the World Health Organisations hand cleaning challenge.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) nominated the cleanliness freak diva to take up the safe hands challenge. Deepika took to her Twitter to demonstrate how to wash hands properly. Armed with a mask and in her bathroom suit, Deepika is showing the right way of washing hands which is a very crucial safety measure amid the Coronavirus scare. 

#COVID19 surely is an uphill health and public safety task, but all of us are in this fight together!” she wrote in her post and nominated sports legends like Viral Kohli, Christiano Ronaldo and Roger Federer to do the same.

 

In a separate video Anushka is seen taking the challenge where she asks her followers to lather the soap well and rub every corner of their hands to for effective washing. She even asks to keep the tap handles clean.

 

According to WHO, to wash hands effectively, wet hands with water, apply enough soap and rub hands palm to palm , right palm over left dorsum with interlaced fingers and vice versa and also pal to palm with fingers interlaced, back of fingers and backwards forwards rotational rubbing with clasped fingers. Then rinse hands with water and dry thoroughly with single use towel. Use the same towel to turn off faucet and your hands are safe.

Alia Bhatt meanwhile shared an Instagram story where she asked her fans to not let tap water run over the 20 seconds of lathering and rinsing as it would worsen another global crisis of scarcity of safe water.

Bollywood celebs have become more active on social media since the entertainment industry went on a lockdown to avoid contracting coronavirus. Sonam Kapoor recently shifted to Delhi, India with husband Anand Ahuja from the US.
