Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s extravagant wedding took place on November 14 and 15 at Lake Como, Italy. For days, radiant photos from the ceremony flooded social media and netizens couldn’t stop gushing over them. Recently, Deepika in an interview with Filmfare revealed the first time she thought of marrying Ranveer.
"I thought of marrying him [Ranveer] after Padmaavat. We knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time. When the film released, it just felt correct. He was of course ready but had already committed to a few projects. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to take out the time. But he made it work," said Deepika.
Also, there had been special arrangements in place to prevent photos from the functions being leaked. When asked about this, Deepika answered, "Privacy was secondary. The reason we asked our guests not to have cell phones was because we wanted them to be present in the moment. Usually, everyone is on their cell phones, capturing the moment. These moments should be in your mind and heart as they’re never going to come back. Every single guest, I kid you not, is so thankful.’’
She further added, ''People who’ve never danced in their lives were on the dance floor. People who’ve never tasted alcohol were tasting wine. That’s how free people were. They were emotionally present there and they didn’t have any choice but to talk to each other. Since we were a small group of just uncles, aunties, cousins and friends we could ask them to leave their phones behind. Everyone who has meant something to us in our life was there. They understood where we were coming from."
Deepika and Ranveer’s romance blossomed on the sets of Galiyon Ki Rasleela – Ram Leela (2012). After dating for six years, the couple took a plunge. Interestingly, when Deepika first met Ranveer, she didn’t want to commit to him. Despite feeling a strong connection with Ranveer, Deepika told him that she wants an open relationship with him. However, she fell in love with him, and the rest is history.
On the work front, Ranveer is currently riding high on success with his latest release, Simmba. The cop drama has become his biggest opener and has earned Rs 44.05 crore in two days.On the other hand, Deepika will soon start shooting for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, which is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.Â
