Mumbai:

In a major setback to Censor Board, Bombay High Court on Monday ruled that Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Udta Punjab' should be given 'A' certificate and must be released with one cut.

Bombay High Court disapproved only one scene where Tommy Singh is seen urinating in front of the crowd. The apex body found it irrelevant to the script and asked makers to remove it from the final package.

For rest cuts suggested by CBFC, the High Court said there is nothing wrong in them and don’t hamper Punjab's image in any manner.

Censor Board on Sunday late evening had issued a statement saying Udta Punjab has been given A certificate and a total of 13 cuts would be needed to release the movie.

"We have today cleared Udta Punjab under A (restricted for adult audience) category after 13 cuts," Nihalani told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Udta Punjab also stars Kareena Kapoor and Diljit in the pivotal roles. It is scheduled to release on June 17, 2016.
