Good Newwz, featuring Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in lead roles, has collected an estimated Rs 78.40 crore in four days and is now inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark. The film collected Rs 13.41 crore on Monday, taking the total collections to 78.40 crore.
Sharing the number on Twitter, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, ''Good Newwz collects in double digits on Day 4, passes crucial Mon test with flying colors... Multiplexes fantastic... Biz should jump today [31 Dec] and tomorrow [1 Jan]... Fri 17.56 cr, Sat 21.78 cr, Sun 25.65 cr, Mon 13.41 cr. Total: ₹ 78.40 cr. India biz.”

Good Newwz has also performed well in the overseas market. Taran shared the overseas figures of the film on Twitter on Monday. Talking about the film, Akshay Kumar told PTI, "I knew it will do good. It has the seed in the right place. A lot of people have done IVF but I would be glad if more people come out and talk about it.'' Talking about the criticism the film got for its stance on anti-abortion, Akshay said, "It is just a character talking and not an actor. If you see, my character is negative in a way, I am a self-centred person in the film but that doesn’t mean I am teaching that (to people)."
The story of the film revolves around two married couples and their journey of love. Akshay and Kareena are seen as Mr. and Mrs. Batra, trying to conceive a baby. On the other hand, Diljit and Kiara too, who share the same surname, also plan to have a baby through IVF. And the real twist comes when Kareena’s eggs are fertilized with Diljit’s sperm and Kiara’s eggs are fertilized with Akshay’s sperm.
Directed by newcomer Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Good Newwz also features Adil Hussain and Tisca Chopra in supporting roles. The film was earlier named Good Newwz but was underwent a spelling change. Producer Karan Johar had announced the name change on Akshay’s 52nd birthday in September.
