Karan Johar has unveiled the first look of Janhvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena - The Kargil Girl. The first look of Janhvi as an aspiring pilot with her sight fixed on the sky is fresh and impressive
Karan Johar shared the first look with a caption that implies, Gunjan was said girls cannot become pilots. "She was told ki ladkiyan pilot nahin banti...but she stood her ground and wanted to fly!It is something that Gunjan Saxena was told - 'Ladkiyan Pilot Nahi Banti'."
Dressed in a multi-coloured sweater, Janhvi Kapoor has dreams in her eyes. Filled with joy, she is ready to release a paper plane into the sky in this first look as her hair flutters with the wind.
In the second look releases she is already a fighter pilot. The woman now in uniform is being cherred by her male co-pilots as she makes a brave entry. "With unabashed courage & bravery, she made her domain in a man's world."<
Janhvi reportedly has taken professional flying training to essay her role of India's first fighter jet pilot Gunjan Saxena with conviction.
Gunjan made history as she flew into the war zone breaking norms that women flyers cannot be seen in combat roles. She was later bestowed with the Shaurya Chakra, an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice while not engaged in direct action with the enemy.
Angad Bedi essays the role of Gunjan's brother Anshuman Saxena in the film. Janhvi and Angad were spotted shooting in Lucknow over the weekend. Stree actor Pankaj Tripathi will play Gunjan's father in the biopic.
Directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Dharma Productions in association with Zee Studios. The movie is slated to release on March 13, 2020.
