Women filmmakers are taking the charge in Bollywood mainstream film making. Starting with Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink to Meghna Gulzar and Ashwiny Ier Tiwari’s impactful Chhapaak and Panga, and women filmmakers no longer are taking the charge of bring actress the mainstay of their film without sulking about the box office business.  On International Women’s Day, here are the women icons whose real life stories will be celebrates and shown on 40mm screen.

Now, the star is all set to play Mithali Raj, former captain of the Indian women's national cricket team, in Shabaash Mithu. Raj is the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000-run mark in ODIs this is the first an Indian sports icon’s real life story will come to the silver screen

Gunjan Saxena, The Kargil Girl’.

 

Janhvi kapoor’s upcoming film 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl' has got everyone waiting. Indian Air Force pilot, Gunjan Saxena, was the first woman combat aviator to enter the war zone in the 1999 Kargil War. Gunjan made history as she flew into the war zone breaking norms that women flyers cannot be seen in combat roles. She was later bestowed with the Shaurya Chakra, an Indian military decoration awarded for valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice while not engaged in direct action with the enemy.
