Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena yet to get go-ahead from Ministry of Defence
Janhvi Kapoor's upcoming film Kargil girl will face some initial hurdles as the Ministry of Defence is yet to get a go-head.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, while script and title (Kargil’s Sher Shah) of Vikram Batra’s biopic have been approved but the Gunjan Saxena biopic hasn't got the nod as of yet.
Post the success of Uri: The Surgical Strike, there has been a surge of films based on patriotism, including Janhvi Kapoor’s Kargil Girl and Sidharth Malhotra’s upcoming biopic on Captain Vikram Batra. Janhvi’s film has nonetheless begun shoot and the actress has also started to train for the film by taking flying lessons. The film is based on Gunjan Saxena, one of India’s first female helicopter pilots who played an important role during the Kargil War.
The film stars Janhvi in the lead role while Angad Bedi is playing her brother. Pankaj Tirpathi will essay the role of her father. In February, the team was in Lucknow for the shoot. The biopic is being helmed by Sharan Sharma.
Shabbir Boxwala, the co-producer of the Vikram Batra biopic, said that they will begin shooting for the film in May. He was quoted in the report as saying: “We have submitted all requisite paperwork. The title and script have been cleared.” Captain Vikram Batra died during the 1999’s Kargil War.
Janhvi made her debut with Ishan Khatter in Dhadak, which is a Hindi remake of Marathi film Sairat.
Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen in Karan Johar directed movie, Takht and will be seen alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor, among others. The big-budget multi-starrer epic saga is slated for a 2020 release.
