New Delhi:

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film Panga is winning hearts. Recently at the trailer launch the ‘Queen’ actress bared her heart on crucial issues like nationwide protests over Citizenship Act, her frequent scuffle with media and Bollywood celebs and also about the absence of gender pay parity in the industry.

One of the highest-paid actresses in Bollywood, Kangana took a sly dig on the actress who tends to justify their less remuneration than male actress because the later get bigger openings. She said, “I have heard successful women from the film industry say things like ‘we don’t deserve equal pay because heroes get bigger openings’”. She continued, “If you don’t feel empowered, nobody can make you feel empowered. You have to feel like an equal. God has given me a pancreas, kidney, a heart and eyes. I am not inferior to others. If you don’t feel empowered no court can make you feel empowered. Half the battle is lost when you feel undeserving.”

Recenty during the Diwali release, Saand Ki Ankh, Taapsee Pannu appealed to her fans to come in big numbers and give a great opeing to a women led female, to encourage more filmmakers to invest on such subjects and initiate gender pay parity in the industry.

Kangana was possibly making a reference to what Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu has said during the Mission Mangal promotions. Justifying why Akshay Kumar’s face is bigger than there’s in the poster they opined he is a bigger star then they are.

Even Alia Bhatt had earlier justified the pay gap reasoning that her Kalank co-star Varun Dhawan has a greater reach than her and it is viable for the filmmaker to invest more money on him than her!

Kareena during a media conclave addressed the same issue and said they she wants to paid as much as Akshya but the actor put forth a condition, only if she agrees to be  a part of 50-50 profit share and not a fixed remuneration.

Panga, directed by Ashwiny Tiwari will come to theaters on January 24, 2019.
