Marjavaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Tara Sutaria, witnessed a decent response at the box-office on the opening day. The film collected Rs. 7.03 crore on the first day of its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures and wrote, ''#Marjaavaan posts respectable numbers on Day 1... Mass circuits / single screens very good, contribute to the total... Metro multiplexes ordinary... Multiplexes of Tier-2 + Tier-3 cities good... Should witness growth on Day 2 and 3... On Friday, Marjaavaan joined Ayushmann Khurrana's comedy Bala, which is going strong at the box-office and has made Rs. 76 crore in over a week. The film also clashed with another comedy Motichoor Chaknachoor, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Athiya Shetty on Friday.
Marjaavaan is a revenge saga in which Tara plays a mute girl,while Riteish’s character is a dwarf in the film. Talking about box office success and failures, Sidharth had recently said, ''I look at it from a learning point of view. Even massive superstars of the country can’t predict the future of their films. It’s a part and parcel of the business. I have a lot of gratitude that I am a working actor. You can’t let your previous Friday affect your coming Friday.'' The flick directed by Milap Milan Zaveri has been produced by Bhushan Kumar. It hit the screens on Novemeber 15
Taran also shared figures for Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bala which earned Rs 3.76 crore on its second Friday, making a total of Rs 76 crore. ''#Bala is steady... In the film, Ayushmann plays a man suffering from premature balding who becomes a big butt of jokes among his people. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles. While Bhumi plays a dusky small town girl who is obsessed with fair skin, Yami plays a Tik-Tok star that Ayushmann loses his heart to.
