Cancer Survivor Actress Nafisa Ali Stuck in Goa With 'Dry Ration' And No Medicine

Veteran actress, activist and politician Nafisa Ali Sodhi recently revealed that she is in a 'terrible situation' all stuck up in Goa with no proper access to ration. The 'Life In A Metro' actress in a conversation with Hindustan Times shared she is stuck with her daughter's family who has come to visit her in Morjim in Goa and is surviving in a limited dry ration. 

Nafisa Ali Sodhi told HT "The groceries shops are shut for the last six days. I’m a cancer survivor; I need to eat proper food. I’ve been eating just dry ration for the past many days — there is no vegetable, no fruits. We’re so cut off. I’m in Morjim and people here are having a terrible time. It’s only in Panjim that the situation is fine. My heart goes out to everyone."

The cancer survivor actress further shared that her daughter's family has come to visit her in Goa for 10 days but couldn't return as all flights and modes of transportation were cancelled over the announcement of nationwide lockdown. Scarcity of daily essential commodities has left them in a soup and now she has also run out of her supplied of medicines, shared the 54 years old actress.

The actress then took to Instagram to bring to notice that people are standing in a long queue to get ration that is posing a health risk. She also claimed that the police is beating people who are trying to bring food to their families. 

Suggesting way in which people need not stand long queues, she said, "The local cart vegetable vendors that go door to door in colonies are really the best way of social distancing. "

Thanking a friend she informed she has hot her supply of veggies from a friend two days ago and is sharing it with everyone living near her.

In another news, Nafisa Ali shared, her niece, Diya Naidu, a dancer on returning from Switzerland tested positive for COVID-19 in Bangalore. However, she has recovered completely after treatment. "The recovery rate is very good but people have to get the treatment, and for that, they need to be tested. It’s very important and that’s how we can beat this,” she opined. 

Netizens have been flagging the hapless situation in Goa with grocery shops running low in stock for quite some time now. Chief Minister Pramod Swant initially sealed borders and closed shops and the rolled back the closure in few days. In a press conference on Tuesday, the CM said that he had held meetings with wholesalers to streamline grocery timings.
