Not Ayushmann Khuranna, THIS Actor Was First Choice For Andhadhun

New Delhi:

Ayushmann Khurrana got his major came to fame last year with Andhadhun, but he was not the first choice for the film. The dark comedy was initially offered to Varun Dhawan who turned it down as he was not sure how the movie will pan out.

The Badlapur actor was apparently approached by Andhadhun director Sriram Raghvan to play the lead character in the film. The film eventually went to Ayushmann Khurrana who decided to take it up and show off his acting skills in a quirky project.

According to a report by Zoom, Varun is regretting the decision of turning down Andhadhun so much that he has approached his Badlapur director for his upcoming film a biopic on Arun Khetarpal. Known to share a cordial relationship since their Badlapur days, Sriram Raghvan decided to star Varun Dhawan in Khetarpal, the youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient . Well yes, this is how Varun Dhawan ended up being a part of Arun Khetarpal biopic.

Last month, on Arun Khetarpal’s birthday, Varun Dhawan posted a picture and announced this film. Posting a picture with the makers, he had captioned the picture as, “Happy birthday 2/lt #ArunKhetarpal. It was always my dream to play a soldier of INDIA. #SriramRaghavan cant wait to bring on screen the spectacular tale of 2/LT #ArunKhetarpal. Produced by #DineshVijan .Hope to make you proud #mukeshkhetarpal and #Poonahorse.

Raghavan too at an Indian Film Festival of Melbourne revealed that several well-known actors turned down Andhadhun before Ayushmann came on board to play the role of pianist pretending to be visually impaired until he actually goes blind. Raghavan did not have Ayushmann in his mind until the actor volunteered to audition for the part.

Sriram further said that it was the enthusiasm that convinced him that Ayushmann was apt for the role. Once the film’s casting was complete, he knew that he had found exactly what he the story demanded.

The film, which released in October last year, made waves with its content and was a blockbuster at the box-office. Ayushmann Khurrana even won a national award for the same.
