Deepika Padukone stirred a storm in Bollywood by unvieling her look of an acid attack victim for Chhapaak. Meghna Gulzar's Raazi created a strong impact on the film industry and ow with Chhapaak, the director-producer duo is all set to bring a story thta is yet to be told on silver screen.
Deepika will be paired opposite Vikrant Massey who was last seen in a web series Criminal Justice. Although we are yet to see the best of Vikrant in a lead role, but has established himself as a great actor in movies like Half Girlfriend, Dil Dhadak Ne Do. However, Vikrant who plays the love interest of Lakshi, the acid attack survivor was not the first choice for the role.
On a recent chat show, Stree star Rajkummar Rao revealed that he was the first choice for the male lead for Chhapaak. Rajkummar couldn’t take up the role because he was pre-occupied with work and couldn't take out datesfor the movies. Hence the role went to Vikrant.
When Rakummar was asked if he turned down a role in Chhapaak, here’s what the versatile actor had to say.
“I didn’t turn it down. Of course not! I loved that script but my dates were so messed up. I’m so looking forward to that film. I kept telling Meghna and Deepika that it’s my loss.”
Well, seems like Rajkummar loss became Vikrant's gain.
Deepika Padukone has been receiving plenty of praise from fans and other Bollywood celebs already. Meghna had earlier said that when she first saw pictures of Laxmi before the attack, the only person that came to her mind was Deepika. “I could not believe when Deepika agreed to play the role. To essay the role of an acid attack survivor is very difficult,” she added.
Chhapaak is set to theatres on 10 January 2020. Meanwhile, Rajkummar will next be seen in Mental Hai Kya opposite Kangana Ranaut that is scheduled for July 26 release and also stars Vikrant Massey.
