Deepika Padukone has been one of the most talked about actresses in the industry. The lady has been making the headlines for her recent release Padmaavat which is one of the most controversial movies.
The actress is seen playing the titular role of Queen Padmaavati in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. Indeed, the actress would have got a fat pay cheque to be a part of Bhansali's Padmaavat.
So far, Deepika Padukone has dodged the question of her fees for Padmaavat.
However, during her recent interview with Neha Dhupia, the actress made a surprising revelation about her paycheque and stated that she was paid higher than her co-stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
This has certainly come as a surprise for many given that Bollywood has always witnessed an open debate on pay disparity in the industry.
But looks like the film industry is witnessing a major change in terms of pay disparity and now the actors are paid as per their talent and not gender.
Interestingly, Deepika Padukone, who is one of the A-lister actresses of Bollywood, was named as one of the 10 highest-paid actresses in the world with earnings of $10 million in 2016.
Although she was dropped from the list last year, we wonder if she'll be able to make it there this time.
