Padmaavat: Here's what Mira Rajput has to say about Shahid Kapoor's performance as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh

New Delhi:

Shahid Kapoor's recent appearance in Sanjay Leela Bhanslai's Padmaavat has made him the talk of the town. The actor was seen essaying the role of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh and his performance has invited praises for him.

While Shahid has been enjoying all the appreciation, his wife Mira Rajput has also lauded his work and cited Padmaavat has one his career-best performances.

The Haider actor revealed that Mira was quite proud of him for playing the role of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh.

"She hugged me. She helped him a lot while playing this role and without her, I would not have played the role," Shahid was quoted as saying

On the other hand, Mira stated that Shahid portrayed his character much ease and has been shining with his acting talent.

"To play a character that does not have the support of many words is when your acting talent must really shine through. Shahid did just that with so much ease and you can see it onscreen," Mira said.

Indeed, this will be the best compliment for Sasha.

Notably, Padmaavat has been one of the most talked about movies of the year owing to the controversies over its release.

Bhansali's magnum opus, which is based on 16th Century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's 'Padmaavat', got mired in controversy after various Rajput groups, including the Karni Sena, alleged that it distorts history, a claim repeatedly denied by Bhansali. Historians are divided on whether Padmavati actually existed.

The film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid and Ranveer Singh was released on January 25 after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared it last month with a 'U/A' certificate and five modifications, including title change from 'Padmavati' to 'Padmaavat'.
