The historical Third Battle of Panipat is coming live on celluloid, thanks to period drama specialist filmmaker, Ashutosh Gowariker. The film recounts the events that led up to one of the mightiest battles ever fought in the history of India
Arjun Kapoor plays the lead character of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Sardar Senapati of the Maratha army. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon. Sanjay Dutt plays the role of Afghan king Ahmed Shah Abdali. Veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure and actor Mohnish Bahl will also play a pivotal role in the film.

Ajay Atul is composing the music for the film and the songs will be written by Javed Akhtar.
Just a while ago, Arjun Kapoor took to his social media handles to share the first poster of the film. The actor announced that the film will hit the screens next month on December 6 along with Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Pandey starrer light hearted comedy Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Meanwhile, Gowarikar has promised some grand fight sequences and according to inside sources has almost110 artistes working in it. Casting director Rohan Mapuskar in an interview told Times of India, “The third battle of Panipat lasted for several days and involved almost 125,000 troops, so you can imagine the scale of it. There were many important people involved in this battle, hence we had to cast so many actors in the film. Director Ashutosh Gowariker has envisioned the film on a huge scale, and Panipat will definitely be a grand cinematic experience.”
Sharing the poster, Arjun wrote, "Come Witness The Battle That Changed History, #Panipat. In Cinemas December 6th."
Director Ashutosh Gowariker will be making his comeback with this period drama after his 2016 film 'Mohenjo Daro' starring Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde failed to deliver at the box office. Arjun has put all his effort into the project, from going through heavy workout routines for building his physique and even shaving his head bald.
