New Delhi:

The makers have finally released the official trailer of Ashutosh Gowariker's next period drama Panipat. It will be right to say that the trailer is impressive and will leave you intrigued. From Arjun's warrior look, Kriti Sanon's effortless charm to Sanjay Dutt as fierce Afghan ruler, the trailer is nothing short of a visual treat.

While Arjun will be seen playing the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Kriti Sanon will portray the role of his wife Parvati Bai. Arjun and Kriti's character in the film might also remind you of Bajirao Ranveer Singh and Kashibai Priyanka Chopra from Bajiro Mastani. Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, will play Afghan ruler Ahmad Shah Abdali.

Talking about the film, Arjun told PTI, "Ashu sir has done a good job in making sure everything is correct. He puts his actors in the forefront. He is a terrific filmmaker, very detailed and nuanced. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. It is a very special film.''

In another interview, Kriti said, ''It is a great story that needs to be told. I like the character of Parvati Bai, especially the way Ashu sir has written it. It did attract me as I have never done something like this before. I was initially confused like how come he thought of me to play this Marathi girl because I am a North Indian, Punjabi.''

"I was a little surprised. But I did not want to let go of the opportunity to do a period film with a director, who is a legend in that space. It is very different from what I have done and so it becomes exciting and challenging at the same time. That is how you break certain barriers," she added.

Apart from Sanjay, Arjun, and Kriti, Panipat also stars Padmini, Zeenat, Mohnish Bahl, Mir Sarwar, Nawab Shah and Kunal Kapoor in lead roles. The film, which is based on third battle of Panipat, will hit the screens on December 6, 2019.
