Rahul Roy ‘Regrets’ Not Taking Up SRK's Role In Darr (Photo Credit: Twitter)

26 years after its release, Darr, a movie and a role that catapult Shah Rukh Khan’s rise to stardom was actually written for him, says Rahul Roy. Appearing at the Kapil Sharma Show to celebrate 30 years of their hit film, Aashiqui with co-stars Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tijori, Rahul Roy spilled some beans regarding the trajectory he has taken in his career. Talking about his works post Aashiqui, the actor, as per Mumbai Mirror reports said that he told host Kapil that he had difficulty finding works for 6 months after Aashiqui release until suddenly, he was offered a platter of movie roles one of which was the 1993 hit movie, Darr.
“I remember Yash Chopra ji had called me for a narration. I was preoccupied with other films and couldn’t take up the offer as many of the projects I had signed on were already on floors and filmmakers were fighting for my dates’’ he recalls.
He then went on to express regret for not saying ‘yes’ to Shah Rukh Khan's Darr adding that the negative role was written for him,
“Well, the film was Darr, which later went to Shah Rukh Khan and shaped his career. His character Rahul was written keeping me in mind. I still have the big regret of not signing that film’’ he adds.
Despite known as the romance king of Bollywood, SRK, cemented his mark in tinsel town by taking up the role of an obsessive talker in Darr. The 1993 Yash Chopra movie was also headed by Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla.
