Ranveer Singh on Saturday took to his Instagram account to share the motion poster of the much-anticipated period drama, Takht. The film also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in prominent roles.
Sharing the first glimpse, Ranveer Singh wrote, ''Presenting #TAKHT directed by Karan JoharProduced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar & Apoorva Mehta Screenplay by Sumit RoyStarring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor AND Anil Kapoor Releasing Christmas, 24.12.2021.''
While Anil Kapoor will reportedly play Shahjahan in the film, Ranveer, Vicky and Kareena will play his heirs. If reports are anything to go by, Ranveer will be essaying the role of Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Shahjahan, while Vicky will be stepping into the shoes of his younger brother Aurangzeb. Kareena will be seen playing Shahjahan's daughter Jahanara Begum. Alia will reportedly play Ranveer's wife Begum Nadira Banu in the film, while the role of Aurangzeb’s wife Dilras Banu Begum will reportedly be played by Bhumi Pednekar.
And finally, Janhvi Kapoor is expected to be seen as a slave girl in the epic. When asked about her reaction on being part of the film, the Dhadak actor had earlier said, ''What can I say? I am still in shock. It hasn’t sunk in yet. It’s a big deal for me. I am eternally grateful and blessed that Karan has allowed me to be a part of the film.''
The film, which is based on the fight to the finish for the Mughal throne, is slated to hit the screens on December 24, 2021. It will go on floors in March.
