Ranveer Singh, who is known for going great lengths for a character, be it being in isolation for days like in Padmaavat or staying with the person he wants to portray like in ’83 recently revealed how he prepared for his role in 2013 film Lootera.

Ranveer revealed that he used to staple his stomach to feel and display emotions of pain in Lootera.  Ranveer in conversation with Anupama Chopra spoke about his debut, method acting and how he adapted himself to the world of Bollywood.

Ranveer however, now feels there are other ways of achieving the appropriate emotions, now that he knows his way around. "Now when I look back on Lootera, I watch the scenes like this because it takes me back to a memory of immense amount of physical pain. It’s all real. But today, having acquired more knowledge and comfort with my craft, I know that there is another way of creating that effect.”

Lootera was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and also starred Sonakshi Sinha and Vikrant Massey in pivotal roles.

Talking about his initial hickups while starting a career in Bollywood Ranveer revealed “At that time I was very raw as an actor, exploring my craft. I wasn’t comfortable with my craft. I didn’t know how to do it. I was so raw that I didn’t know the ABC of filmmaking.”

Recalling his first shoot day for Baand Baja Baraat, Ranveer told that he did not even know what role a boom mike guy played during a movie shoot. "Is he going to stand here only?", is what a confused Ranveer asked co-star Anushka Sharma during the shoot.

Ranveer will be next seen in '83, a story based on India winning the 1983 cricket World Cup.
