Taapsee Pannu has finally responded to Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel’s claim that Saand Ki Aaankh was first offered to her sister and has cleared the air that it was she who approached he filmmakers and the directors for the role that was turned by many A-listers.

After the trailer of Saand Ki Aankh released, Kangana Ranaut sparked ageism debate in Bollywood after her sister and manager Rangoli Chandel claimed that Saand ki Aankh was first offered to her that she refused and instead suggest Neena Gupta and Ramya Krishnan's name for the roles.

Later Taapsee, addressed the controversy surrounding the age of her and co-star Bhumi Pednekar's characters in "Saand Ki Aankh", saying they have been bombarded with questions whereas male actors are often hailed as risk-takers for playing roles beyond their age or of different sexual orientation.

In a long post on social media, the actor questioned why they should be called to justify their stand when the likes of Aamir Khan and Anupam Kher escaped the negativity for their roles in "3 Idiots" and "Saaransh" in the past.

Taapsee, recently in an interview, was asked if Saand Ki Aankh was apparently first offered to Kangana Ranaut? To this the actress said that the makers must have gone to Kangana for this role; actually, they went to half the industry as they received bizarre reasons (from actresses who turned down the project).

Taapsee further revealed that the makers never approached her. On the contrary, she personally reached out to the makers and offered herself for the role and she has no shame in admitting that. The actress also informed that it took them two years to find the parallel female lead now played by Bhumi Pednekar as Prakashi Tomar.

Meanwhile, debutant director Tushar Hiranandani in a recent interview bared he faced a lot of difficulty while casting two leads, who would look like women in their 60s onscreen.

Saand Ki Aankh that tells the tale of Haryana based octogenarian sharpshooters, Chandro and Prakashi Tomar in a male-dominated world and how they went on to win medals and accolades for the country in the face of adversities will hit the theatres this Diwali along with Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4 and Rajkummar Rao’s Made In China.
