New Delhi:

After Salman Khan announced that his upcoming film Inshallah has been delayed, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production house took to Twitter and revealed that the film has been stalled for now. The film was meant to hit the screens on Eid 2020. The statement read, "Bhansali Productions has decided to not go ahead with In-shaa-Allah for now... Further announcement will be out soon... God willing."

Earlier in the day, Salman had tweeted, "The film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is pushed but I will still see you all on Eid, 2020. Insha-Allah!!"

According to a report in ETimes, a source has revealed that work on the script is still underway, due to which it cannot go on floors as per the schedule. The report quotes a source as saying, ''Sanjay only narrated the first half of Inshallah to Salman. He wasn’t ready with the post-interval sequences. Salman asked Sanjay to also read out the second half and how the film would play out, especially the climax which is very important in the film. Inshallah is a sweet love story and the way the film is treated will be very different from any of Salman’s films that we have seen in the last few years.''

The source continued, ''Inshallah isn’t a staple Salman film. It doesn’t have over-the-top action or applause-inducing, power-packed one-liners that Salman’s Eid releases are famous for. They both felt that it would have a more organic feel if it came out later in the year. As of now, they are thinking of December 2020 as the time to release the film.''

The film also stars Alia Bhatt in the lead role. While Alia will reportedly play an aspiring actor, Salman will reportedly be seen as a businessman in his 40s. As per reports, Salman’s character will romance a girl 20 years younger to him. Alia's casting opposite Salman was received with much negativity online, due to the age-difference between the two.

Opening up about this, Alia had said, "I didn’t get any criticism. I think I got a lot of excitement. I think speculation is also a form of excitement in a way and why shouldn’t there be speculation. There should be and at least I am not bothered by that and I don’t think Salman or Bhansali sir are bothered. I think this is a filmmaker who has given us very good films, he is someone who we all are very fond of and I think we should just trust him with his vision."

The film, a love story, is co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions and Salman Khan Films.
