Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray is making it to the news every day since its inception. The much-awaited biopic of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray played by actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is all set to hit the theatres. The film’s intriguing trailer is out already and Nawazuddin’s mettle as an actor is being praised by one and all! The film will also star Vivah fame actress Amrita Rao who will portray the role of Meenatai Thackeray (wife of Balasaheb Thackeray). Meenatai Thackeray is known to be a strong pillar of the Thackeray family.
While dubbing for his role, Nawazuddin saw an emotional scene of Amrita's character Meenatai who had to read out a letter written to her by Balasaheb from jail. Nawaz had to give his voice to the letter and while doing the voice over he was moved by Amrita's performance. Post dubbing, the actor rushed out and asked the director to call Amrita. The actor who got emotional complimented her for her performance.
Film's producer and Shivsena MP, Sanjay Raut is all praise for Amrita. “The most difficult character to play was Aai's character ( wife of Balasaheb Thackeray) as she has not appeared anywhere and she was also not in limelight, but still Amrita Rao did justice to the character and played it very gracefully and portrayed her what she was in reality", He said.
Thackeray is slated for a worldwide release on January 25, 2019. The film is directed by Abhijit Panse, presented by Sanjay Raut, produced by Raut’ers Entertainment LLP, Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Carnival Motion Pictures.
The biopic Thackeray, produced by Sena MP Sanjay Raut and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui also came under a few controversies. Shiv Sena leaders demanded no other film be allowed to clash with the biopic. As per the demands, Emraan Hashmi starrer Cheat India, which was scheduled to release on January 25 has been preponed by a week to give a window to Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray. Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi will also be delayed or released earlier.
