The makers of Thalaivi revealed the first look of Kangana Ranaut as former Tamil Nadu chief minister, J Jayalalithaa on Saturday. Kangana looks unrecognisable as the political leader. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the poster on Twitter and wrote, ‘“First look poster... Kangana Ranaut in #Jayalalitha biopic... Titled #Thalaivi... Directed by Vijay... In the poster, Kangana can be seen clad in a green saree with a green jacket on top. She is also seen sporting a bindi on forehead.
The actor-turned-politician, who passed away on December 5, 2016 due to cardiac arrest, is fondly referred to as 'Puratchi Thalaivi', which means 'revolutionary leader'. Actor Arvind Swamy, best remembered for his roles in Mani Ratnam's Roja and Bombay, will play the late Tamil superstar and former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran in the biopic Thalaivi.
The film will release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages. Kangana recently admitted that she finds it difficult to learn the Tamil language. "I am finding it difficult to learn Tamil. This film will be released in Hindi and Tamil, so we will do something about it. Obviously, I have to mug up those dialogues because Tamil is not an easy language. Earlier, I was trying to learn the complete Tamil language because I have learned English as well, but now I am learning Tamil as per the demand of film's script," said Kangana, while interacting with the media at an event.
Kangana has four looks spanning different ages in the film and Hollywood Make-up artist Jason Collins has been roped in for Kangana's makeover. Jason has worked in several Hollywood blockbuster films like Captain Marvel, Hunger Games and Blade Runner in it prosthetics and makeup department. He is a recognized expert in the design and application of special FX makeup and character designs.
Besides, she is also gearing up for the release of Ashwiny Tiwari Iyer’s Panga which will hit the theatres in January next year. Apart from this, Kangana will also be seen in Razneesh Razy Ghai’s upcoming directorial Dhaakad which is said to be one of a kind female-oriented action movie.
