Union Minister V K Singh made news when he took to Twitter to make a sarcastic ‘mosquito’ tweet to shut down detractors asking proof of Balakot air strikes. Singh, on Wednesday, wrote, "Last night at 3.30 am there were too many mosquitoes, so I used HIT. Now should I start counting how many mosquitoes I killed or should I go back to sleep?"
रात ३.३० बजे मच्छर बहुत थे,— Vijay Kumar Singh (@Gen_VKSingh) March 6, 2019
तो मैंने HIT मारा।
अब मच्छर कितने मारे, ये गिनने बैठूँ,
या आराम से सो जाऊँ? #GenerallySaying
While some appreciated his sarcastic take, some criticized him for trivializing the matter. But only a few know that the former Army chief once shared screen space with Nana Patekar in a 1991 Hindi action drama Prahaar: the Final Attack.
He appears on-screen when a Colonel briefs Major Chavhan on the mission to rescue school kids who are held hostage by militants.
Prahaar is the story of Major Chavan, a tough and stern soldier, trained to destroy the enemy. The movie was written and directed by Nana Patekar and starred Madhuri Dixit and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. This film brings many issues (corruption, extortion, apathy, greed) to light.
The film was also nominated for Best Story at the 37th Filmfare Awards.
The minister's cryptic tweet came on a day when a Reuters report claimed that satellite images taken hours after the February 26 air strike show that the six buildings reportedly destroyed in the aerial attack are still standing.
