T-series boss Prashant Bhushan recently announced that Parineeti Chopra has replaced Shraddha Kapoor for the Saina Nehwal biopic without detailing about the reasons why the decision was made.
Media sources have learnt that Shraddha Kapoor opted out of the film because she was not able to fit into the shoes of the ace shuttler.
Parineeti Chopra started preparing for the role, learning the sport and getting into the skin of the character last year but a source closed to the development revealed that the actress failed to get the nuances of the character right. As she struggled hard to ace the sport and impersonate Saina, the filmmakers had to give second thoughts about taking her onboard.
Surprisingly, though Shraddha was not upset about leaving the film after training for the sport and preparing for the role for over a year. On the contrary, she was relieved to leave the film as the hectic schedule was taking a toll on her health.
Shraddha's first look from the film had been released and had created much interest among the fans of the badminton champion. She was training hard for the film, before she was diagnosed with dengue last year. This derailed the film and rumours of her opting out of the film started making the rounds.
The biopic, titled Saina, is directed by Amol Gupte, who has helmed movies such as Stanley Ka Dabba and Hawa Hawaai. The film went on floors in September last year.
Biopics are becoming a sure shot formula for success in Bollywood. After the release of ‘Thackrey’ and ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ early this year that created quite a stir, the wait is now for the Prime Minister Modi’s biopic that releases on April 15.
