New Delhi:

Kem cho Mitron?’ Mitron fever has just begun and while the movie seems to be another Rom-Com Bollywood film, director Nitin Kakkar has something else to say. "Mitron is a complete film, it has its share of comedy, emotions, drama. Comedy is a tool to make this film more entertaining and accepted by the audience,” says Nitin in an Exclusive Interview to NewsNation.

Mitron is Nitin’s third directorial venture in Bollywood after critically acclaimed debut ‘Filmistaan’ (2012) and 2016 release ‘Ram Singh Charlie’, which revolved around a comic genre. While it seems that the director has a comedy home ground, his words suggest otherwise. According to him, comedy is a widely accepted genre but he finds it very difficult to put his feet into a comic film shoe. He says, “Comedy is never my safe zone, rather I do not work in a zone which seems to be safe. I hate being in a comfort zone.”

“We have a culture of mass entertainment. The audience in India does not go for a film to acquire knowledge, but to simply entertain themselves. Hence, using comedy as a medium to narrate a story works well at the box office,” he added.

Adapted from the superhit Telugu film ‘Pelli Choopulu’, Mitron already raises the audience expectations. To match the level of appreciation is not a piece of cake. The film director suggests that there are more cons in making a remake than there can be any pros.

“Why will the audience watch a film that has already been seen? This pressure makes the job harder. If the film does well, the credit goes back to the original film, if it doesn’t it becomes the director’s mistake.

“I was against making a remake, but when I got this film, I was intrigued. I loved it so much that I wanted to see how well I can narrate this story in my way. I had fun making it and I just hope the audience enjoys it too.”

Filmistan’ director also denies that the movie title has nothing to do with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apparently, the friends-oriented film was named ‘Jai Shree Krishna’ during the making. But Nitin wanted to relate the name with friends, which happened to be ‘Mitron’ in Gujarati.

Nitin’s next flick will be with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan under the banner of Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 productions. The movie will begin its shoot by the end of September. The movie name is yet to be revealed.

Mitron’ stars Jackky Bhagnani, Kritika Kamra, Prateek Gandhi, Neeraj Sood, and Shivam Parekh. The film, produced by Vikram Malhotra, is riding high on the promotions. While the film is set for September 14 release, the makers plan to hold multiple screenings of the film ahead of the release across big cities.
