Film director Imtiaz Ali is gearing up for the release of his next venture tentatively titled Aaj Kal, starring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan in the lead roles this February and has already locked the subject of his next film. The filmmaker too following the trends of bringing the brave stories of real life figure to silver screen is opting for a biopic and his subject is Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Ayushmann Khuranna reportedly has been approached for the film.
Back in December, there were reports stating that Imtiaz Ali is considering Kartik Aaryan and Ayushmann Khurana for the lead role but now fresh reports suggest that Ayushmann has rejected the film offer due to personal reasons.
According to Koimoi, Ayushmann Khurrana has turned down the film. The actor, who had a great 2019 with his back-to-back hit films such as Bala, Dream Girl, is now looking to go the Shah Rukh Khan way and take a brief break from work to spend some time with his family, which is why he won’t be a part of the film.
The report also stated that when Ayushmann was asked by Imtiaz about the film, he politely turned it down because he plans on taking four months hiatus from work after the release of his films
Ayushmann Khurrana who had four releases last tear has a busy first half as he is nall set for the release of an interesting line up of films. He will next be seen in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavhdhan, which is a sequel to the 2017 film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. The film is scheduled to release on 21 February 2020.

Ayushmann will also be seen in Shoojit Sircar’s Gulabo Sitabo, also starring Amitabh Bachchan. Gulabo Sitabo and is scheduled for an April 2020 release. Gulabo Sitabo, set in Lucknow, is billed as a quirky family comedy, penned by Sircar's longtime collaborator Juhi Chaturvedi. They have worked together on Vicky Donor, Piku and his last directorial venture October.
