One month after Ben Affleck told Deadline that he won’t be returning as Bruce Wayne in DC’s Batman, the actor for the first time opened up about why is he exiting from the DC character. At the time of his exit rumours, Affleck had only said that his character should be played by a ‘younger’ actor with a short tweet that said he was "excited" to see the director and writer Matt Reeves' "vision come to life". The whole thing about Batman was finally confirmed by the former Batman on Thursday night while appearing in the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.
Affleck, on the show, not only confirms that he is officially done as Batman but also opened up about his decision not to continue as the Caped Crusader.
"I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter, but just couldn't come up with a version – I couldn't crack it," he said. "And so, it was time to let someone take a shot at it. They've got some really good people’’ Affleck quotes.
The upcoming Matt Reeves-directorial The Batman will reportedly be played by a younger Bruce Wayne, though, no official actor has been named to step into Affleck’s role. Reeves’s The Batman is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 25, 2021.
