Game of Thrones 8 season 3, ‘The Long Night’ despite being the culminating Battle of Winterfell wasn’t a fan favourite even ending up as the second worst rated episode on Rotten Tomatoes. Shortly after the ‘The Long Night' aired on HBO, fans poured into social media complaining that the episode was literary too dark for the eyes to enjoy the scene going even as far as thanking ‘Drogon’, ‘Rhaegal’, and even the ‘moon’ to mock the episode in terms of lightning.

The man behind the cinematography of the particular episode is having none of it. During an interaction with Wired magazine, Fabian Wagner, the cinematographer of ‘The Long Night’ said, " “We’d seen so many battle scenes over the years — to make it truly impactful and to care for the characters, you have to find a unique way of portraying the story.”

Addressing more tech issues while offering some corrective suggestions, he further added, “Game of Thrones is a cinematic show and therefore you have to watch it like you’re at a cinema: in a darkened room … If you watch a night scene in a brightly-lit room then that won’t help you see the image properly. A lot of the problem is that a lot of people don’t know how to tune their TVs properly … A lot of people also unfortunately watch it on small iPads, which in no way can do justice to a show like that anyway.”

For those who are still finding it difficult to swallow the pills of advice Wagner offered a more definitive response to TMZ, “We tried to give the viewers and fans a cool episode to watch,” he said. “I know it wasn’t too dark because I shot it.”
