New Delhi:

About a fortnight back, hackers broke into HBO’s servers and stole a staggering 1.5 terabytes of data including five draft scripts of the seventh season of Game of Thrones as well as the personal numbers and addresses, home and email both, of the cast members of season 7 including Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, and Kit Harington.

According to The Guardian, the hackers had demanded huge amount from HBO for not releasing further data.

However, this week hackers released an email from HBO according to which the network has agreed to pay $250,000 as part of a negotiation over data swiped from HBO's servers.

According to Hollywood Reporter, hackers have leaked a screenshot of an email that shows a senior HBO VP offering the hackers $250,000 as a "bug bounty payment." The email indicates a negotiation between the network and the hackers.

It is unclear if the HBO email is authentic or if it has been doctored in any way.

"We also have not been able to put into place the necessary infrastructure to be able to make a large payment in bitcoin, although we are taking steps to do so as you suggested," the HBO exec says in the email.
