New Delhi:

Leonardo DiCaprio will be starring in the 1947 classis remake of Nightmare Alley, if, reports are to be true. According to ScreenRant, Caprio will be part of Del Toro’s remake of the big budget noir film that centred on the rise and fall of a young con man, Stanton "The Great Stanton" Carlisle as he tried to make a out a profession as a carnival swindler and fake psychic who preyed on psychiatric patients.

Del Toro will reportedly be writing the script for the remake which he is also set to direct. While Kim Morgan is attached to co-write. The film will be del Toro's first time directing a feature since his Oscar win for 2017's The Shape of Water. 

It was previously adapted into a 1947 movie starring Tyrone Power.

It is unknown whether or not DiCaprio would play Powers' character as a carnival barker, or if there will be a contemporary take on it. Variety reports that DiCaprio is in negotiations to lead del Toro's update to the 1947 noir original though there hasn’t been a confirmation as to whether DiCaprio would be playing Stanton as a carnival barker.

The project will be produced by del Toro, J. Miles Davis, and TSG Entertainment and distributed by Fox Searchlight. It's scheduled to begin shooting this fall, after del Toro has finished assembling his cast

Production stars later this year, after the cast is finalised.
