91st Academy Awards or what is popularly known as Oscars was shrouded with controversies but what happened during the event night is sure to make you go bonkers.

It was the band Queen that was given the first spotlight of the evening in lieu of the host's monologues. Queen and Lambert opened with “We Will Rock You†as the audience flew to their feet, with stars like Glenn Close, Javier Bardem and Lady Gaga spotted clapping and singing along in the audience.

A trio of America’s favorite comedians, Tina Fey alongside Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph showed up onstage to crack a few jokes about the show’s hostless state and present the first award. The audience sighed, why are they not the real hosts.

Regina King took the first Oscar of the evening for her role as a grieving and determined mother in Barry Jenkins's If Beale Street Could Talk. Her tear-filled speech was dedicated to her own mother whom she had brought along. "Thank you for teaching me that God is always leaning, always has been leaning in my direction", King said.

Hannah Beachler won an Oscar for Best Production Design in Black Panther and became the first Black woman to win for her category. She is the third Black woman to take home an Oscar in a category other than acting.

Period. End of Sentence, an India-set film on the taboos around menstruation and featuring the real 'Pad Man' Arunachalam Muruganathan won the Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category. The film has been produced by Indian origin Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment.
