'Avatar 2' Concludes Shooting For 2019

James Cameron's much-awaited "Avatar 2" is done filming for the year 2019, with the makers sharing a behind-the-scenes photo from the film's set. The movie's official Twitter account shared the photo on Saturday to mark the end of live-action filming for the year. "That's a wrap, Na'vi Nation!.

It's our last day of live-action filming in 2019, and we're celebrating with a sneak peek," the post read. The picture offered a glimpse at a craft called the "Sea Dragon". "Check out this photo of the aft well deck section of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the sequels," the post further read.

 

Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Stephen Lang and David Thewlis are starring in the film which is a sequel to Cameron's 2009 fantasy action film. "Avatar 2" will release worldwide in December 2021. 

The sequel of the sc-fi fantasy drama was as initially scheduled to be released on December 18, 2020. But now, Disney has pushed back the release date to December 17, 2021. The additional sequels of the movie too has been pushed further. 

The first movie Avatar which was released way back in the year 2009 happened to be the highest grossing movie of all times before Avengers: the Endgame took its spot.

Director James Cameron who will be returning back as the director of the sequel of this much loved movie has earlier said he will push the limits, including potentially making 3D easier to view for the sequels. The director says he plans to use all the tools at his disposal to make the sequels special, including one that we don't quite have yet. Sam Worthington, who portrays the role of Jake Sully in the first 'Avatar', has revealed that the story of its sequel will project the time lapse and pick up eight years after the first movie.

Other than the sequel of Avatar, Disney has also scheduled three untitled Star Wars movies for the years 2022, 2024 and 2026. Meanhile Avatar is streaming on Disney+ November 1 onwards
