'Charlie's Angels' star Cameron Diaz has been roped in for 'Annie', based on the 1977 comic-strip moppet musical. Slated to release at Christmas 2014.
Sony Pictures had earlier been in talks with Sandra Bullock for the lead role, but she pulled out recently, reported a daily. Sharing screen space with Diaz will be Quvenzhane Wallis, playing the orphan and Jamie Foxx, who will portray Daddy Starbucks in the classic comic strip-turned-musical, being produced by Will Smith and Jay-Z and directed by Will Gluck.
The film is slated to release during Christmas next year. Diaz, 40, is also likely to reprise her role in a sequel to her 2011 hit 'Bad Teacher'.
