End of an era. The reign of Game of Thrones as one of the most popular fantasy series comes to an end and albeit all speculations the series finale was much satisfying and reasonable compared to the rest of the episodes. Kit Harrington who plays Jon Snow once in an interview said that everyone gets what they wanted and is what happened at the final episode rendered poetic justice for all the characters. It ties up all the loose ends and justifies whatever happened in its preceding episodes.
The episode opens with Danaerys giving her victory speech to the Dothraki and Unsullied army. As she pronounced herself the new Queen, the ruler of seven and his 'most worthy, loyal' soldier Greyworm the commander for her forces and then kingdoms and then vouched to 'break wheels' together , we prepared us for the worst, Dany on the throne reigning on a slaughtered city and disgruntled citizens of the kingdom.
What happened later was stirred completely by Tyrion Lannister in probably one his best performances till the date. Almost in a suicidal attempt by giving him to the queen as a prisoner he made sure that he is heard and understood, at least by one sane man living in King's Landing. The rest was executed by Jon Snow who in a flash of second saved the seven . So when we see him abandoning the Night's Watch and going away with the Wildings to live a life that is beyond the reign of any King or Queen we know what he meant when he said ' You will always be my queen' before putting a dagger into the heart of the women he has loved.
Nevertheless, years of war and butchery finally restored peace in Westeros although after long and for once tyranny died a silent death. For the first time, a king was elected under peaceful terms and not happened just for having the royal blood. Beyond everyone's expectations, Brandon Stark the man who was crippled in the first season was chosen the king with Tyrion Lannister as his hand. What was even more interesting were the members of the council that included Bronne who was not seen in the last few episodes and now id the Lord of Highgarden, Poddrick, Ser Davos and of course our favourite knight, Brienne of Tarth.
Still, there are a few compelling reasons to name Bran as King. One is that, despite suffering heavy losses early on in the series, the Stark family proved remarkably resilient when it came to surviving this series. Three of the five Stark siblings are still alive, as is Jon, who possessed Stark blood via his mother, Lyanna and as Tyrion pointed when he was said he will never walk again he learned how to fly.
The episode had its fair share of heartbreaking and happy moments. Drogon melting the Iron Throne that claimed lives all through eras and fiddling with its mother as she breathes her last was probably one of the most tear-jerking moment and ghost finally reuniting with Jon the most satisfying of all.
The episode ended with Sansa taking the throne of Winterfell, Arya going out on her voyage to find what's beyond the Westeros and Jon leaving with the Wildings to the same woods where the first episode of the show started, drawing a full circle.
