Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker has received as much criticism as it did praises. Delivering yet another one of his finer performances as a struggling comedian, Arthur Fleck, the Todd Phillips movie has, even before its release created fear among movie-goers that the movie might influence violence. The fear and scepticism didn’t mollify any less when Joker hit the screen on 2nd of October with people taking to social media that they had to walk of the movie for its disturbing and violent depiction.

Having been criticised for its scenes of gun violence and depiction of mental health struggles, cinema-goers were struck with another shocking aspect when Gary Glitter's soundtrack came onscreen in the pivotal and most iconic scene. Strutting down the stairs of Gotham dressed in the bright orange outfit as the Joker, Arthur can be seen dancing to convicted child sex offender Gary Glitter’s "Rock and Roll Part 2’’ who is currently serving a 16-year prison sentence prison after being found guilty of multiple sex offences in 2015.

As much as the scene is iconic in every sense, viewers cannot help but call out on the choice of song. ‘Why is no one bringing up the fact that JOKER features Gary Glitter on its soundtrack?!’’ one user question, another viewer also expressed shock for the same writing , ‘’I can’t believe they used a Gary Glitter song in the Joker movie’’
