New York:

Spike Lee's remake of hit South Korean mystery thriller has been delayed.

The film was slated to release on October 25 but will now hit theatres on November 27 during Thanksgiving.

The Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen and Samuel L Jackson starrer will compete with the animated feature "Frozen", "Black Nativity" and the Jason Statham film "Homefront" among wide releases, reported Huffingtong Post.

"Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," "Grace of Monaco" and "Out of the Furnace" are also schedule to debut on November 27 for limited engagements.

Lee didn't comment on the "Oldboy" delay himself, but he did retweet one fan comment on the shift.

The original was directed by Park Chan-wook. It is loosely based on the Japanese manga of the same name written by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya.
