Two days past the annual 77th Golden Globes but netizens still can’t over Ricky Gervais brazen roast to the whole of Hollywood and other big shots at the gathering of all the big stars. Returning as the host for the 5th time, the British comedian opened the award event with a monologue that will undoubtedly be remembered in years to come as one of the most 'savage'. Taking a jibe at the hypocrisy of the industry, Gervais opened with,
"I came here in a limo tonight, and the license plate was made by Felicity Huffman," Gervais began. To refresh your memory, Huffman was sentenced to two weeks in prison last fall for receiving a $ 15,000 payment for a test leader to correct her daughter’s SAT responses. When the audience groaned in response, he added,

Gervais then went on to poke fun at other celebrities too, including the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star Leonardo DiCaprio and the stars of "Cats’’ which unquestionably was one of the worst movies of 2019.
"'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' nearly three hours long," the host said. "Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere, and by the end his date was too old for him. Even Prince Andrew was like, 'Come on, Leo, mate, you know, you're nearly 50-something.'"
"The world got to see James Corden as a fat p---y. He was also in the movie 'Cats.'" The comedian highlighted the film's negative reviews and said that Judi Dench defended the film "because she loves nothing better than plunking herself down on the carpet, lifting her leg, and licking her [expletive]’’ Gervais says of the movie-blunder, Cats.
Not done with enough roasting at the big shots, Gervais went on to take a bite out of the giants steaming networks battle, quipping
"Apple, Amazon, Disney — if ISIS started a streaming service, you'd call your agent."
"If you do win an award tonight, don't use it as a platform to make a political speech. You're in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg," Gervais said. "So if you win, right? Come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your God, and f--- off’’ Gervais took a dig at stars who identify themselves at social warriors.
In addition to Gervais, another roast that had the audience feeling uncomfortable with the truth came from the master of satire, Sasha Baron Cohen. Announcing Taika Waititi' s Jojo Rabbit as one of the nominees in the best motion picture comedy or musical category, Cohen took a jibe at Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg,
“The hero of this next movie is a naive, misguided child who spreads Nazi propaganda and only has imaginary friends,” the comedian said midway through the ceremony. “His name is Mark Zuckerberg’’ Cohen announces.

As the audience awkwardly laughed, he added, “Sorry, sorry. This is an old intro for The Social Network. I’m actually talking about Jojo Rabbit. It’s nominated for two Golden Globes and it’s directed by its star, the brilliant and groundbreaking Taika Waititi.”
