A Star Wars fan was reportedly punched in the face by another cinema-goer for flashing his phone during the screening of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’. Joe Bond and his wife had gone to watch the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, starring Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, at the Scotiabank cinema in Vancouver, Canada over the weekend when the row was erupted by a massive blowout.
Bond told CTV News that the man had aggressively asked staff how to find his seat when he sat down next to them. The man allegedly shouted at another movie-goer who had taken out his phone to film the opening credits.
The situation escalated for the worse when Bond reportedly took out his phone to receive a call thinking that it was a ‘call from the babysitter’. The man in question completely lost it when Bond took out his phone as he told a publication,
‘’He just kind of lost it, he began yelling and screaming. I told him to calm down, and he didn’t calm down, and then he hit me in the face’’.
‘There was a lot of people filming the situation because it was pretty hilarious.’
Other cinema-goers filmed footage of the aftermath where the man is seen shouting: ‘I am a real Star Wars fan!’
‘Turn your phone off! Use your f*****g heads! Welcome to the 21st century!’', the irate man is said to have told Bond.
The man as per Bond is also said to have yelled, ‘I waited a God-damned year for this and some [expletive] turned his phone on next to me.’
He was however escorted by staff out of the screening and the movie was made to restart from the beginning.
