Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Final Trailer Released

New Delhi:

Star War fans were treated with the final trailer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker right in the middle of Monday Night Football. The film is set to hit the screens on December 20, 2019.

The clip starts with Daisy Ridley's character Rey running through a forest with her light saber and also epic battle scenes — including all the familiar characters that we have fallen in love with over the years. "The saga will end ... the story lives forever" the trailer reads. And Luke Skywalker is heard telling Rey, "The force will be with you ... always" in a voice over.

The trailer ends with a memorable line by fan favorite C-3PO which goes as, "Taking one last look ... at my friends."

Billy Dee Williams is returning to play Lando Calrissian in the final installment of the Skywalker saga. The film will also see Mark Hamill, Billie Lourd and even Carrie Fisher appearing in the film.

The film has been directed by J.J. Abrams, who also helmed 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, followed by The Last Jedi. "This (the film) is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful and also satisfying in terms of actually answering (as many) questions as possible.

''So if, years from now, someone's watching these movies, all nine of them, they're watching a story that is as cohesive as possible," the filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly.

Abrams had said that he want to honour the legacy of Lucas with his film. ''While there were many things that were planned for and discussed - George Lucas himself said when he created this he saw it as three, three-act plays - that doesn't mean there isn't discovery, that doesn't mean there aren't things that come up that make you realise, 'Oh, here's an opportunity.'

''It also doesn't mean that there's a list of pay-offs that we have to do because of set-ups. But we also were very much aware this is the end of the trilogy and it needs to satisfy. We went into this thing knowing it has to be an ending. We're not screwing around," he said.

Returning stars include Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose, Domhnall Gleeson as Hux, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Jimmy Vee as R2-D2, Billie Lourd as Kaydel Ko Connix, Naomi Ackie as Jannah and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.
